Therapeutic Approach

Healing Methods

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is integrative and person-centred, meaning that I adapt each session to your unique needs, goals, and pace. I draw from evidence-based methods while maintaining a warm, collaborative atmosphere where genuine connection and understanding come first.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we explore unhelpful thinking patterns and develop practical strategies to manage anxiety, regulate emotions, and create more balanced ways of responding to life’s challenges.

Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is an evidence-based approach often used to help clients who experience anxiety, obsessions, or compulsive patterns. It involves gradually facing feared thoughts or situations in a safe and supportive way, while learning to respond differently to the distress they cause. The goal is to reduce avoidance and regain a sense of confidence and flexibility in daily life.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT helps clients develop skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. This approach is especially helpful for those who experience intense emotions, relationship difficulties, or self-criticism. In therapy, I integrate DBT techniques to promote balance, self-compassion, and healthier coping strategies.

Grief Therapy & Meaning Reconstruction

Grief therapy provides space to process loss, honour memories, and rebuild meaning in life after change. My approach is influenced by contemporary grief models such as Worden’s Tasks of Mourning and Neimeyer’s Meaning Reconstruction, which emphasize the active process of adapting to loss, rather than “getting over it.” Each person’s grief is unique, and therapy focuses on supporting emotional expression, resilience, and self-understanding throughout this process.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy invites clients to explore the stories they tell about their losses and how those stories shape their experience of grief. In my work, I use this approach to help clients find meaning, honor their continuing bonds, and create space for new ways of relating to what has changed.

Attachment Theory

Grounded in the understanding that our early relationships shape how we connect and cope, attachment theory helps illuminate how we experience loss. In therapy, I draw on this framework to help clients explore their patterns of attachment, make sense of their grief, and strengthen their capacity to feel safe and connected again.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on helping clients relate differently to difficult thoughts, emotions, and internal experiences. Rather than trying to eliminate distress, ACT supports clients in developing psychological flexibility through acceptance, mindfulness, and values-based action. In therapy, we work toward increasing awareness, reducing avoidance, and building a life guided by what feels meaningful and important.
